The course COM-230 has shown me how communication via Graphic and Layout in Print Media is so important to get the message across. This course covered the principles and practices of visual graphic design that are applied daily in design styles of different media. Now I have a better understanding of what steps are needed when designing.
Paradis Ice Cream was my first and hardest design for me. I found many challenges in creating their logo and stationery system since this was my first course and with new software. But I was able to create a logo with the client request and continued on to the Stationery System that my client requested.
Save National Forests Poster was my second design and was a lot easier, since I was able to create the poster with no limitation from the client. I created a poster that carried the message to all ages and made you think as you viewed the poster. The design that worked for this client was to keep it in line with nature. The main point was the question “Should We Cut The Tree?” this kept viewers thinking and wanting more information on the topic of Save National Forests.
COM-230 course taught many new principles and practices of graphic visual communication and the importance of balance, shapes, colors are when designing any print media. The use of Illustrator CC in this course was minimal but it gave a great start in learning how to use the program for designing printed media.
